I suffered a lifelong phobia of vomiting (emetophobia). At times it felt manageable but other times I was literally paralyzed with fear unable to sleep, eat or leave the house. It's not an exaggeration to say this phobia affected almost all parts of my life and entered my thoughts daily, especially in the winter months. Other professionals had told me this was the hardest phobia to get over so it would likely be just a part of me forever. I'd tried listening to self-hypnosis tracks and doing self-help workbooks, with limited success.
When the fear became so severe I even struggled to care for my own children, I had to try something. I was relieved that Rachel understood the gravity of my fear and and was so respectful and gentle in her approach. She seemed to so quickly and expertly get to the heart of the problem, not just the symptom. Her approach was gradual and manageable. The results speak for themselves, over time my confidence seems to grow more and more and I have cared for my children on several occasions without the terror and panic that I used to feel.
